Our head chef is highly qualified chef with over 20 years of experience. He discovered his passion for cuisine at a young age. Orient Star’s head chef with the best Star chefs in Turkey. After his formal training and before joining the yachting industry, our chef spent sixteen years working in top quality restaurants. More than ten years ago, in 2003, Orient Star’s chef decided to combine his two passions: travel and cooking, working as Head Chef of many superyachts prior to joining Orient Star.
Mahmut 36, is a qualified chef and began his career at the early age of 14. After receiving training he gained qualifications in the food and beverage industry, he started working as a chef in a top class hotel in Istanbul and for the last 9 years he has been involved in the luxury yachting industry.
He has gained a wide range of culinary experience and knowledge in many different cultures and cuisines: Mediterranean, Turkish, Greek, Italian, Spanish and Far Eastern. Mahmut is committed to giving the very best service and food possible.
Mahmut is always exploring and creating new flavours and tastes, as well as being a keen participant in diving and walking. He speaks fluent Turkish and English.
